Treslyn Shipley is a Texas-raised artist who has developed an interest in capturing connection through her work. She currently resides in Chicago, IL, and often works with families and businesses to paint bright portraits filled with energy. Beyond commission work, she has developed a studio practice of painting figures in relatable and everyday situations. Whether fulfilling commissions or creating personal pieces, she strives to make art that is approachable to any viewer. She has been greatly influenced by her uncle William Alther, a leading landscape and wildlife artist, Wayne Thiebaud, the late American painter known for his colorful works depicting commonplace objects, and Makoto Fujimura, a process-driven contemporary artist and theologian. Besides painting to the tune of Gilmore Girls in the background, she enjoys spending Sunday afternoons with friends and family, estate sale hunting, and she has never met an apple she didn't like.
